Donald Trump Stands By 2017 Charlottesville Remarks

Apparently, there were, “very fine people” on “both sides” during the 2017 Charlottesville riot according to Donald Trump, and almost two years later, he is standing by this.

"I was talking about people that went because they felt very strongly about the monument to Robert E. Lee, a great general,” said Trump to a group of reporters today on the White House lawn. "Whether you like it or not, he was one of the great generals. If you look at what I said you will see that that question was answered perfectly.”

The defense of these remarks were clearly triggered by 2020 presidential candidate, Joe Biden. In the former vice president's campaign announcement video, he said, "the President of the United States assigned a moral equivalence between those spreading hate and those with the courage to stand against it."

This latest shady exchange between the two 2020 candidates is not the first and probably will not be the last.

On Twitter, Trump posted a video of Biden taking a jab at Biden's pledge to respect personal space after being accused of inappropriate behavior. Biden tweeted right back at Trump.

The 2020 election is already full of clapbacks and shade, so we can only imagine how the rest of the election will go.
