News 12 recently covered the arrests of undocumented immigrants in 10 Long Island communities, and this move has refreshed the longstanding debate of immigration on the island.

Overall 31 arrests were made in the Metropolitan area. Officials said 26 were convicted of criminal charges or had charges pending, and 29 of them were ordered to leave the U.S. and did not. This fact has been the main argument made by those who believe ICE is doing their job. On the other side of the argument, people are saying this is just a racist and heartless power play made to look ICE look productive.

On News 12's Facebook page, where the article was posted, the comment section was filled with liberal and conservative opinions. Some boldly state that this is the right move to keep U.S. citizens safe, and even gave locations of where ICE should stop next. Others have called out their responses as just plain racism.
